How Soy Isoflavones Increase Women’s Health

Soybeans, containing various phytochemicals, are one of richest source of isoflavones, also known as phytoestrogens. They contain about 36% protein, 18% fat, 30% carbohydrates, isoflavones and other minerals and vitamins.

Men on Diets – 2009 UK Survey by Men’s Health Review

“Does my butt look big?” is the cue for all men to quickly click through to another screen as men simply cannot relate to all the female targeted weight loss campaigns out there and rightly so. Diets have long been the territory of the female species where worrying about how you look and where the next salad is coming from is the common theme.

So given all the marketing out there geared towards women it would appear that men have no need therefore to worry about their weight.

Not so. A staggering statistic was recently released in a UK survey by the Men’s Health Forum which revealed that one in every two men was classed as overweight.

Of those interviewed in the survey it then appeared that there was a common trend in the way men felt about the following themes which are all tied up with the issue of being obese or overweight.

On acceptance…

It is clear that men are much more accepting of being overweight than women. Society tends to accept a big man but a large women is looked on negatively.

Abdominal fat is somehow not really frowned upon and many men see at as an aging fact. But Cancer Research UK clearly states that it is exactly this abdominal fat which causes heart disease, diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure.

On health…

Men are in agreement that the major reason why they are focusing on a diet plan is strictly health based. Whether it’s obesity or an illness as a result of being over weight, this was the fundamental reason why men finally decide to say: “now’s the time”, and do something about their weight.

On appearance…

Again, along with health, this was also a primary reason why many men finally decide to start dieting.
